At one time I was a professional athlete, playing in the National Football League, so I know a tough opponent when I see one.
The consequences of drug and alcohol abuse know no boundaries and it plays no favorites. Drugs and alcohols could care less who its victims are or how badly anyone ends up getting hurt. Over the years I have witnessed the wreckage drugs and alcohol abuse inevitably creates in the lives of the affected individual and their families. People suffering from alcohol and drug addiction need professional intervention and the sooner they get it, the better.
Dr. Frank’s philosophical approach draws upon his own personal experiences of successfully navigating life and recovery. As a former professional athlete and coach, Dr. Frank believes we all have the ability to achieve our goals and overcome any obstacle. Dr. Frank Mattiace feels strongly the right time to take the right action is right now.
Dr. Franks believes once an individual is truly their true, authentic self, they then can become far more effective in managing all their life's challenges, including alcohol and drug dependency. His therapeutic objective is always to empower people, helping them develop their own values and philosophy by defining beliefs and principles that serve as internalized guides to decision making and the best actions for themselves and the people around them.
Over the years, it became readily apparent the vast majority of people abusing drugs and alcohol are using them to self medicate and self soothe a mood problem which has not been properly treated.
When I use the term mood disorders here, I am talking about specific psychiatric conditions, like anxiety, depression, ADHD and bi-polar disorder. These types of mood disorders are so often present in people using drugs and alcohol I realized it was a big part of the problem and the solution.
